The CD has moments - some songs are amazing (Elastic Love, You Lost Me, My Girls, Vanity), while others really miss the mark.

I heard this song on my way home from work tonight and it's one of my favorites, so I had to share it. It was written by Peter Allen (and was one of the best, if not gayest, moments in The Boy From Oz) and the lyrics are amazing and so simple...

This summer's music is kinda nice - more laid back and easy. I kinda like this Kylie song (the lyrics are great) and love the video. Here it is:

Last night on Glee, the show ended with one of the songs that has a bit of a personal emotional tie - "Dream a Little Dream." It made me smile and I wanted to share my favorite version by Mama Cass.

You may or may not know this but my fave albums are Trio & Trio 2 which were recorded by 3 of my favorite singers; Linda Ronstadt, Dolly Parton and Emmylou Harris. Below are 2 songs off the album which'll give you a taste of how amazing these 3 sound together.

Geek fact: both albums won multiple Grammys and the first was nominated for Album of the Year in 1987.

This woman was amazing - as a singer. actress, and (from what I've heard) human - and she has left us.

I first learned of Lena Horne when I saw The Wiz in the movie theaters when I was 8. Watching her sing If You Believe made me do just that.

She will be missed.

Here's a little something I came across today while searching for music: Miss Shirley Bassey w/ The Propellerheads. A modern-day classic song...with a warning message.

I was inspired by DJ Nita (an amazing NYC DJ) to remix/mash-up Madonna's Holiday w/ Kelis' Milkshake back in 2004. It made it's way around the internet and smaller clubs.

Now, 6 years later, Kelis has made it part of her set. This video was shot a week ago in NYC at Club 57. (It also made it into her set at Santos Party House)

Sure the song is a bit repetitive and she may need to pronunciate a bit more, but this girl is insanely talented and is only 9 years old. Her name is Heather Russell and I predict we'll see that name in the future.

Okay, so I came upon this today and I have to share it with you. It's from Raquel Welch's TV special from the 70s and she, like many sexy actresses from her day, attempts to sing. The fact that she really can't is masked by where-the-fuck-are-we locations and Bob Mackie costumes (though I will admit that her white dress is ssssssssssssstunning). And, yes, my homo ass is loving ALL of it.

My question is: why don't today's actresses do shizz like this? I think Sandra Bullock...Angelina Jolie...Pamela Anderson needs a singin'-n-dancin' special of her own.

I like Taylor Swift as a songwriter, she seems to be a nice girl, but she can't sing live to save her life. The last two performances she gave (Hope for Haiti/The Grammys) were shiteous - she was singing flat. And then, to add insult to injury, she was singing trying to harmonize with Stevie Nicks and failing miserably.

Now, I realize that she's a young artist and all, but if you're gonna sweep the Grammys, at least have the talent that all those who were up against her have. Did you see Pink's performance...?? She stayed on key while singing upside down, wet, and hanging from a huge white silk hammock.

Time to step up your game, bebe.

I am putting out into the universe that I want to see Bette Midler in Las Vegas before her show closes on Jan. 31st.

I move to L.A. on the 6th of January which means I have 25 days in which to see The Divine Miss M, and seeing as how I will be so close (well...closer than NYC), it shouldn't be too hard.

PLUS I get to see Miss Kamilah Martin as a Harlette. Good times...mmmmfff.

Since it's the incomparable Katie Thompson's birthday today, I thought I'd post one of my favorite songs of hers that she performed at Birdland. Yes, it's been choreographed by dancers across the country (even on SYTYCD in Canada) but only because of the raw emotion that only she can convey with that crazy-powerful voice and spot-on lyrics.

This is Lady Gaga's new video for Bad Romance and it ROCKS!!! And that entire crystal outfit with matching shoes from Alexander McQueen is stunning (as are the McQueen shoes at the end of the video). She's not only arrived, she's pushed everyone aside to show how it's done.

I woke this morning having a bad dream that played one my worst fears. I won't go into details but it involved someone being unkind to me and was so upsetting that I didn't know if it was real or not. As I got out of bed with this horrible feeling, a song came to mind. Dunno if the song relates to the dream, but...

The last two performances she gave (Hope for Haiti/The Grammys) were shiteous - she was singing flat. And then, to add insult to injury, she was singing trying to harmonize with Stevie Nicks and failing miserably.

Now, I realize that she's a young artist and all, but if you're gonna sweep the Grammys, at least have the talent that all those who were up against her have. Did you see Pink's performance...?? She stayed on key while singing upside down, wet, and hanging from a huge white silk hammock.

I won't go into details but it involved someone being unkind to me and was so upsetting that I didn't know if it was real or not. As I got out of bed with this horrible feeling, a song came to mind.
