Yesterday 2 gays and I had separate conversations about their voting plans - both are voting for McCain. And strangely, both conversations were exactly (literally) the same. When I asked why they were voting for McCain, both told me "Obama wants to spread the wealth." This is not true and here are the facts.
When I asked both what they thought about their rights as a homosexual male under each nominee, both, BOTH said, "I don't really care. I don't want to get married and I'm never having kids, so it doesn't really affect me." Wow. How selfless of them.
Unfortunately, I told them, it does affect those who do want it - those who threw rocks at cops in 1969 and organized marches; those who made it possible for you to come out to your family and friends; you know those who fought to see to it that your faggot ass could walk down the streets with your head held high - so that you could be PROUD of who you are. Ever think of that?? The fact is you are a gay man and, like it or not, you owe those people respect. They, like I, would like to be treated as equals in this country. We would like the RIGHT to marry whether we personally want to or not. We want the OPTION to adopt and raise a child. We want TO KNOW, emphatically, that the person who beats us (or those we love) to a pulp or, possibly, to death will be held accountable with a hate crime. Voting to see all of those moving in the right direction might be something you want to think about before pulling that lever. Here's the difference between the two candidates.
Anyways...vote for the person you think is best. Vote for the person who will take care of you personally and not the rest of us. It's gotten us to a really good place so far, hasn't it?
DAYS LEFT IN OFFICE: 82 (Now you eat one)
Thanks for that Aaron... as one of those homo couples that is actually taking the plunge next year, I am glad there are people like yourself out there fighting for all!!!

Well said.
Why do people just spout out sound bites rather than really investigating the facts?
Laziness?
