I was a bit negative yesterday, so I thought I'd lighten things up with a few things I deem "musts":
* Prophet Omega's album The Natural World was just released this past Tuesday and it's rockin'!! Vanity Fair gave it a nice little write-up: "Fueled by ferocious drumming, melodic hooks, and real guitars, Prophet Omega's The Natural World is a sophisticated, sonic triumph." I couldn't agree more. This album is the follow-up to his single "An Area Big Enough To Do It In" from the Queer Eye Soundtrack. Go to his myspace page to listen to 3 of the tracks.
* ABC's Brothers and Sisters and NBC's Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip are my 2 new faves on the boob tube. Both are well written, well acted, and extremely interesting. Yeah, I know...Calista Flockheart bugs me, as well, but she's not playing the most likable character, so I guess it evens itself out. Get thee to your television or computer to watch 'em.
* Cornhole County is gonna be one fun night out! Daniel Nardicio and Sweetie are throwing a new weekly "down home, down and dirty, un-apologetic tribute to COUNTRY MUSIC!!!" It's hosted by Ruthie Stubbs and will feature a live band, lotsa special guests, Cornhole Karaoke at 1am, and go-go boys a plenty. PLUS the first week is a tribute to Tammy Wynette and will be DJ'd by yours truly. DO NOT MISS THIS PARTY! Info:
CORNHOLE COUNTY @ OTTO's Shrunken Head ( 538 E.14th between A & B)
Opening Night: WEDNESDAY OCT 11 - Doors Open 10pm, Midnight Show, $5/10 Cover
DAYS LEFT IN OFFICE: 845
I also loved Brothers and Sisters. I enjoyed how different each character was, and what they will bring to the table this fall.
