UPDATE: I admit it came across as being mean to a girl who treated 9/11 and Katrina as trivial things, but it incenses me when people treat it as just that: trivial. "We're from New York, September 11th and everything..."?? Who says that? My apologies for coming across as mean -- I just don't like when people speak about HUGE tragedies and end it with "H-e-e-e-e-e-e-ey!"
I saw that on t.v. too. In fact I saw at least 2 other interviews (I guess NY reporters found lots of New Yorkers to interview). Most people I heard on the newscasts throughout the day gave a shout-out regarding 9-11 and their giving Katrina props.
I thought well, hmmm, Mr. Farrakhan would be so pleased to know that people actually do care about Katrina in that existential way.
