...PEOPLE DIE" - Kiki DuRane.Last night's final episode of Six Feet Under was all I hoped it would be and more.
I've said it before but I hold true to my belief that this series had the most beautiful, intelligent, realistic writing (and acting) that I've ever seen on TV. It always took you to places that didn't feel safe and made you see how alike everyone is both on the inside and out and I applaud them for that.
SPOILER ALERT: The last five minutes of the show really solidified it's brilliance. How can any show kill off all of it's characters and have it's audience at peace with that fact? Don't get me wrong, I cried from the moment you saw Nate running after Claire's car in her rearview mirror all the way to the last name in the show's credits; I probably cried hardest when Keith and David got married, but they were all tears of happiness. The show closed like that final chapter of a really, really great book.
Thanks Alan Ball for putting quality storytelling on television.
P.S. Watch the final five minutes again and you will see that one of Keith and David's sons (either Durell or Anthony) turns out gay as he's holding hands with his boyfriend at Claire and Ted's weddding. And Brenda marries a really hot man and they have a son together (who is holding Brenda's hand at the same wedding).
I agree that it was fantastic. I do believe however that the final five minutes were not actually the end of their lives but Claire's daydream as she left them and drove across the desert.

I'm getting teary eyed just remembering the last episode. SFU was the one show where I actually felt emotionally invested in the characters. I'll miss the show, but was glad the series ended the way it did.
