Miss Ellie passed away yesterday and I'm a bit sad...
She was kinda like my TV grandma while JR and Sue Ellen were my TV parents. I remember watching Dallas every Friday night with my own grandmother and secretly wishing I could live on a ranch in Texas with a rich oil barron family who's lives were less dramatic than my own. Actually my real father was never shot by his mistress and my mother wasn't a raging alchoholic so maybe they do win on the drama front. Whatever. I just wanted to be a Ewing.
That is, until I met The Carringtons...
great post today..... who knew? I didn't hear anyting about it, so you're my source for the really important news. Just like you, I was completely taken with the Ewings and Miss Ellie as a kid. In fact, I remember exactly where I was when J.R. got shot.
But you're right.... when the Carringtons came along, I forgot about the Ewings. I was completely mesmerized by Dynasty. I can remember sneaking out of my room after bedtime and sitting in the dark hallway so mom wouldn't see me watching Dynasty. That's how I got to see Alex f**k her husband, Cecil, to death. It was awesome. What does that say about me?
SoapNet started airing Dynasty reruns about 3 years ago or so. With the help of a VCR, and then DVR, I recorded and watched every episode of all 9 of their seasons. 5 days a week, and it took me a whole year to watch them all. Ahhh.... I have such ambition and dedication.
I enjoy your blog..... keep it up!
