Now that Manhunt is o-vah and America's Next Top Model is coming to a close my new reality-obsession is Bravo's Project Runway. After watching it this past Wednesday night, I realized Bravo had a hit on their hands with a contest show that wasn't predictable: It pits people's creativity against each other and the audience never knows what's going to come out of the contestant's imagination.
In the first episode, the 12 designer contestants had to make an evening dress out of materials they found at a grocery store. Some chose obvious materials (garbage bags) some chose not-so obvious (corn husks, placemats, crawfish, and pantyhose were just a few.)
My fave design, which was also the winner of the first task, was Austin's corn husk dress. Trust me, it looked a lot better before it dried up. I also have a personal attachment to Austin but that's just because I've seen him around for years. He's not only one of the nicest people in NYC, but he's always been one of the most personally expressive people by way of his unique style I've seen here. All hopes are on him to win.
this show totally rocked...My creative juices were pumping...I totally picked a bad career (cooking)...Robert is a hottie...i like the chick with the faux hawk as well. And i thought the panty hose dress was killer as well.

i agree .... a few others were somewhat novel, but the pre- dried and crispy corn husk ensemble was clever and "innovative".

Oh man! Im pissed I didnt catch the first episode of that show (even though im sure they'll rerun the fuck out of it later this week)...before I decided film school was my thing, I had SERIOUS thoughts about being a fashion designer as femme as that can sound haha. I could design all kinds of stuff but who knows if it could have acctually been made in real life, I know nothing about sewing....yessss Id say Music videos are more my calling
