Narcissism 101

CRITICAL LIST 11-3-07

I am currently obsessed with this amazingly talented singer named Mario Spinetti. As soon as I heard his music on his MySpace page I went directly to iTunes and bought his EP.

His beautiful and poignant music has really been taking my mind off this week's tragic events and I thank him for that. I can't stop listening to "Man On The Moon".

If you have not yet heard him, please check him out (Eddie, this means you my love) and support this young singer/songwriter.

Oh, and he's currently married to dancer Lauren Adams who writes for movmnt Magazine, a rockin' dance magazine that was founded my SYTYCD's Danny Tidwell.

FAVE PICS

A friend of mine left work yesterday afternoon, drove his car  onto the Verrazano-Narrows, stopped mid-way, got out of his car and jumped to his death.

This is someone who I was very close to from our first meeting in 1994. We began to drift apart in 2003 to point of just saying hello every once in a while through an e-mail. As much as we didn't see or speak to each other, I still knew he was my friend.  I'm now wondering whether he felt  the same.

I am quite upset right now and my emotions run from hurt to anger to great sadness. It's a bit much.

I hope he is now in a better place than he was before he left us. I will truly miss that huge smile that never left his face or the nervous laughter that was present after everything he said.

Goodbye Jay Heitzner. I miss my Yenta and will, always.

HOPPER COMMA EDWARD

I went to Washington D.C. for Thanksgiving and while there took a trip over to the National Gallery of Art to see the Edward Hopper exhibit.  Edward Hopper has always been one of my favorite artists and after seeing a large collection of his work, he's now in my top two (next to Keith Haring). One must see Nighthawks, Chop Suey, and Summertime up close to really appreciate them.

I almost bought a print of my favorite of his works titled New York Movie, but wasn't about spending any monies on me right now before Christmas. Know what I mean?  There's still time after the holidays...

If you are in the D.C. area and have not yet gone, do go see this.  So very worth seeing.

ALL THE GOOD THINGS

All the things I'm thankful for this this Thanksgiving (in no particular order):

My health that keeps me going everyday.
My family who are ALL amazing.
My sweet dog who licks my face every morning.
My honest friends who are there for me whenever needed.
My home (and the city it's in) that I can truly call just that.
My numerous jobs that tire me to the point of exhaustion (but do help me survive).
My life...as a CoverGirl.

What I'm most thankful for is my ability to accept responsibility for all my actions and having no problem with saying I'm sorry.

And, no, I'm not in rehab or born-again....just reflecting.

For the past 2 days I have been bed-bound with an achy cold. I have slept so flippin' much I'm starting to question what year it is.

Maddy has been great with holding it until I'm ready to take her out for a walk... A lot of crossed legs, lemme tell ya.

Feeling a bit better and am going to work today with only slight achy-ness and congestion.

I just rented and watched Death Proof (since I never got around to seeing it in the theater) and was so impressed with Miss Vanessa Ferlito that I went scouting YouTube until I found her hot lap dance from the film. Hey mami, mind if i say "wow"?

BACK IN THE GAME

Well, after a week of playing catch-up from my trip to Italy I am finally feeling like I can breathe again. The trip was incredible and I feel so honored that I was able to be a part of what was a beautiful wedding week with Steph and Seb. They are perfect for each other and it gives one hope for finding the right person to share one's life with.

Regarding new work, I have a benefit that I am spinning this Thursday and another on Sunday on top of my usual Tues./Wed./Fri. DJ-ing gigs. I do, however, get steal away from work next weekend to hang with another rockin' couple, Jonathan and Coy, down in West Virginia.

When has my life ever been a bout slowing down...?
