AMAZING

It's amazing how, at 39, I can still be hurt by words.

I'll start by saying that I have never been  a good looking guy - I've always had a different look and that's been fine for me. Not what I'd choose to be, but it's what I have to work with and I'm fine with that.

So last night, I was hanging out after work with the go-go boy that I had just worked with - watching the drag queen that the two of us had just worked with. The two of us are  taking, having a drink when the go-go boy gets a text from a...let's just call him a gay socialite sitting across the room from us -maybe 15 feet away. The text reads:

"I am shocked...SHOCKED at your choice of men tonight. He must be paying you HUNDREDS to hang out with you."

Am I THAT hideous that the thought of someone hanging out with me would have to be from me paying them to do so? And it's THAT shocking?? I realize it's just a bitchy queen (who also has a shaved/bald head, I might add), but I thought high school girls or gays in their 20s did things like that. Guess not

Nevertheless, my self-image took a minor hit and I had to express it so that it wouldn't become any part of me. Out with the bad, right?

THE ACCUSED

This Wed. night I will be spinning at mr. black (199 Bowery), which happens to land the night before Thanksgiving. Very much looking forward to spinning a room with rockin' sound and it's all FREE, bitches!!! Please come by and dance before gorging yourselves on turkey, stuffing, and pie.

MY BODY IS WALKING IN SPACE

Last night at work, I developed a cough that, as the night went on, grew heavier and heavier. The poor cab driver who took me home had to listen to 25 minutes of heavy coughing. When I got home, I took Nyquil, just to suppress the cough and knock me into a heavy sleep.

I woke this morning feeling like a truck had hit me. The cough began the minute I sat up in bed, so after walking the hounds, I got back in bed only to sleep until 3pm. At that point, I was sweating and could hardly move. After taking the girls for another snail-paced walk, I decided to take my temperature. It was 102.8. So I immediately called my doctor who asked if I had ate yet today and suggested that after I ate, if my temperature was still high, to go to the emergency room.

I made myself some soup, drank a Gatorade and sat back on the couch to watch my stories. My temp is now at 100.1 and I feel fine.

Was this a passing virus? Or is my body just plateauing before it goes back coughing/sweating again. These past 2 weeks have REALLY been trying and, honestly, been very lonely. I am so tired of having to stay home. There's a LOT I need to get done before I leave in a little over a month and a half...

First, I love me some Erikatoure Aviance - she is amazingly nice and a talent tat needs to be seen. Second, the song has been turning me for months. And third - the video is amazing. "Got me working to a turned-out cunty beat..."

Since it's the incomparable Katie Thompson's birthday today, I thought I'd post one of my favorite songs of hers that she performed at Birdland. Yes, it's been choreographed by dancers across the country (even on SYTYCD in Canada) but only because of the raw emotion that only she can convey with that crazy-powerful voice and spot-on lyrics.

Jekyll and Hyde - Funnnny. Great concept. Loves me some Julius. I'd say the skit was too short, but maybe the other writers will take note.

Digital Short - LOL. WTF??? Still laughing...

BEP Performance #2 - Oh, Fergie. Who dressed you? Whoever did is gettin' a chuckle offstage, I assure you.

Picnic Skit - Already going nowhere fast. Side note: isn't it crappy being on a date where you have to explain pop references..? Pay the check and walk away.

BEP Performance #3 - SNL has officially run out of "funny" and has given the Peas a 3rd performance. Those dance moves of Fergie, I believe, were used on Kids Incorporated, yes/no?

Disappointed. Maybe they should have let Joan/Christina Hendricks host...

AN APPLE A DAY

After 4 days of this horrible what-I-like-to-call "cold", I am off to the doctor's to have him take a look at my sinuses. Last night was probably the worst of it with my temperature reaching 101.6. I tried to watch TV, but the light from the television just gave me more of a headache (same held true with my computer). Maddy had gone to stay with my BFF Scott so that I didn't have to worry about walking her before bed nor having to wake up early to take her for her morning slash. It was a VERY quiet night in.

My sleep was off, to say the least, in part due to my dreams being all over the map - from frustration dreams, to my family being brainwashed at Disneyland (?), to being told to leave someone alone forever, to actual physical violence. My body tossed and turned so much that my sides and my back ache. I kinda feel like I just got out of a kick-boxing class.

I do hope he has something that will make this sickness go away. I can't do this much longer...

BED BOUND

SO, my body decided it wasn't feeling like it could fight off whatever sickness is going around, and I have been in bed all day sick as a dog. I have fever, sweats, achy-ness, and major congestion...

I hadn't eaten in 22 hours and just fixed myself a toasted peanut butter & banana sandwich with an ice-cold coconut water (get those electrolytes back in...) and it made me feel a bit better.

Now I'm gonna go watch my stories (SYTYCD, V, and Melrose Place) before my other stories come on. A big night of TV.

BTW the picture is obviously not me, but in my mind's eye - it's what I'd like to look like when I'm under the weather...

This is Lady Gaga's new video for Bad Romance and it ROCKS!!! And that entire crystal outfit with matching shoes from Alexander McQueen is stunning (as are the McQueen shoes at the end of the video). She's not only arrived, she's pushed everyone aside to show how it's done.

Isn't it amazing that just talking about your fears and getting off your chest the issues that have been weighing you down can feel so freeing and renew optimism? Asking for help has always been hard for me and I find that when I do, people actually want to do just that -help. And that rocks.

I've always been of the thinking that when someone does something good for you, that you give them the credit they deserve. Thank you (and you know who you are) for listening, being there for me, and giving great advice. I'll try not to forget you in my acceptance speech.

Dear Maine,

You might wanna move. After all, this country's moral center is going in the shitter, isn't it? I was gonna suggest that you become part of Canada,  but then I remembered that marriage has been legal for gays in that morally reprehensible country for the past 4 years and you couldn't really handle that. I mean, all those heterosexual couples being threatened daily by gay couples must send shivers up your spine.

On the other hand it would get you out of an area that includes that heathen state of Massachusetts. My gosh - what if those married gays from Boston move to your state and threaten the "preservation of marriage" even more now just to spite you...? Talk about being put in a corner.

Maybe now that you've made your point, you can vote to take away rights to those who don't believe in Jesus like those pesky Jews. Talk about threatening! Doesn't that sound exciting??

I'm just thinking out loud. Do with that what you will.

I woke this morning having a bad dream that played one my worst fears. I won't go into details but it involved someone being unkind to me and was so upsetting that I didn't know if it was real or not. As I got out of bed with this horrible feeling, a song came to mind. Dunno if the song relates to the dream, but...

I love Elvira Mistress of the Dark - one of my cult films that I've seen thousands of times - and I cannot think how better to celebrate than with a little song and daaaa-aaaance.

A VERY MERRY UN-ACID TRIP

This video is gorgeous. The editing is perfect and whoever made this was crazy creative (and possible crazy high). Oh, and Alice keeps saying "there is still always a lot of trouble."

After the shit-show night I had last night, it was nice to wake up to this from my friend Aaron. Kind of inspiring seeing someone as famous as Madonna before she became "Madonna".
